TellTale

What a racing season! With a total of 36 races scheduled between both fleets, only ONE had to be canceled. Even Hurricane Dorian couldn’t put a damper on the fun! Congratulations to overall winners Lolly, Peace of Heaven and Rhumbline (Tangier Fleet), and for the Choptank Fleet: Nothing Artificial, Flossie and Epicure (Spinnaker) and Reville, Tamarind and Touche’ (Non-Spinnaker).

But wait, the end of the racing season doesn’t mean an end to the fun. The coming months have a number of events scheduled. For the Tangier Fleet, we have the “Frostbite Series” of fun races every Sunday (Start time 2pm) capped off by the Grey Goose and Gossling races and parties (Oct 20th & Oct 27th). Also, on Sunday, Sept. 29th, is the Captain’s Cup. It is open to ALL ESSA boats (whether racer or not, $10 per boat entry fee) and will feature a 10-mile course around the Nanticoke River. Captain’s meeting is at 1:00pm with the start at 2:00pm. The NORSI has been sent out via email, if you didn’t get a copy please contact Deke Sheller  (jdeke@comcast.net).

And that’s not all! Over on the Choptank they just finished the Wild Goose Chase (Congratulations Jambo!) and have the Choptank Cup coming up on Oct. 12th.

Election time already?

No, not that election, the ESSA election. Each year a new ESSA bridge election is held at the annual Awards Dinner in November. The positions are Commodore, Vice-Commodore, Tangier and Choptank Fleet Captains, Treasurer and Secretary. If you are interested in running or nominating someone, contact Deke Sheller (jdeke@comcast.net) or your fleet captain by October 15th.

Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner

Always a great time, ESSA’s Annual Meeting and Awards Dinner will be held in Salisbury on Friday, November 22nd (Location TBD). In addition to the racing awards, a number of special awards will be given out. These include the Great Shoals Lighthouse, Blue Water Cup and others. You can find the full list of awards and criteria in the ESSA yearbook. Again, send any nominees to Deke Sheller.

Yearbook!

Jerry Gerlitzki is once again putting together the ESSA yearbook. Jerry needs pictures, articles, anecdotes, tall tales; anything that might have anything to do with sailing in general and ESSA in particular. Also, advertising space is available, which helps defray publishing costs. The yearbook will be published next spring so please get anything you have to him as soon as possible at jerry@gerlitzkidesign.com
Jerry does a fantastic job on our yearbook so please help him out!

SEE YOU AT THE AWARDS DINNER!
