The Stedman Smith Cup was modified and shortened due to low participation and light winds. The modified course was to round the Choptank Light and return to G3 rather than sailing to the Tred Avon Yacht Club.

Aura, Jitterbug, and Lazy Ethel.
The race started and continued with very light winds until 11:30 when a good sailing breeze came across the river. Lazy Ethel was the first to experience a fresh lift propelling her to the shorten finish line at R18A. Aura at a disadvantage finished one minute later despite leading for much of the doldrumed race.
