Multiple boats arrived on Friday and Saturday.

The cruises that are on the calendar cannot always be followed as planned.

Some boats will arrive early. Weather may alter plans. Some boats may continue to other destinations.

So, stay flexible, Stuff happens, plans change.

It is always more fun if we can be together.

As always, skippers make their own decisions.

A message from the Bridge

Dear Choptank ESSA Competitors,

It is with great enthusiasm that I remind the fleet that we are green-lighting the start to our 2020 season on 6/17. Please take the time to re-read my email sent on 5/18 if you have not done so already.

On Wednesday evenings leading up to the 17th, we are encouraging informal pursuit style racing by our members. This past Wednesday Gabrielle, Whistle Jacket and Jitterbug competed on Course 27.  George Breig published PHRF TOD start times (on the ESSA Blog site) which can be used by the competitors for a pursuit style race with no committee boat.

The start, our season will consist of a three race series of non-spin only. The fleet leadership chose this format in order to take a soft approach to launching the season. There are many boats who may be in the water, but are reluctant to sail spinnaker due to crew size limitations. Our non-spin boats who have limited crew. Either way, this gives us a simplified and laid back approach to getting back into the groove. If it makes sense to do so, we will revert to normal six race series following with both fleets.

As advertised in my last email to you all, we have the pleasure of Ron Freund committing to a few races as committee boat at least until we are able to establish a baseline of racers for our lottery committee boat format this year.

Additionally, to the TAYC crew, please feel free to bring your boats to CYC ahead of the Wednesday races. We can and will accommodate a temp slip for you until you are able to get your boats back down the river safely. No pressure. No problem. Just give me a heads up please. You guys are always welcome to move about the cabin here.

ESSASAILING38@gmail.com

All the best, and see you guys soon.

Trevor
