RICHARDSON MARITIME MUSEUM
Volunteer Opportunities
JOIN THE CREW !

Opportunities abound at the Richardson
Maritime Museum for individuals interested in making a difference
to a growing organization. Join us and become an important part
of the maritime heritage of Cambridge, Dorchester County and
the Eastern Shore.

The Museum has an immediate need for Docents and volunteers in Boatbuilding.
A Docent is a greeter who welcomes, guides and helps interpret the
exhibits for our visitors. Knowledge of wooden boat building, the
history of Dorchester County and the Eastern Shore is not necessary.
Training will be provided.
      
A Docent orientation session will be held at the
Richardson Maritime Museum, 401 High Street, Cambridge on
Saturday, February 29  from 11am -1pm
Come and bring a friend - all are welcome.


The Ruark Boatworks is the place to be if your interest is wooden boat
building. Join the team of craftsmen as restoration of Ruby,
an 1890’s log canoe, begins. Apply your skill set or learn a new skill,
training will be provided.

A Boatworks orientation and woodworking skills session will be held at the
Ruark Boatworks, 103 Hayward Street, Cambridge on
Saturday, March 14 from 12pm – 4pm
Come and bring a friend - all are welcome.

The yearbook team needs your contact information!
The deadline approaches.

In an effort to update our roster of members, ESSA has gone electronic.
We need your help
Attached is a link that will take you to a form. 
Here's how it works.  Easy Pleasie, Lemon Squeezie!

  1. Click on the link.   
  2. Answer the questions. Some are pull-down menus.
  3. When complete go to the second page which is for racing registration.
  4. If you are not a racing skipper, there is no need to fill the blanks. Just go to the bottom to SUBMIT.
  5. You will receive an email with your completed information.
  6. Check it out, you can edit it if something is incorrect. Save it in case something changes.
  7. DONE. 
The information will populate an ESSA roster spreadsheet that will be used for correspondence and the yearbook.


If you receive more than one email, you only need to fill in the form once.

Cruising Itineraries for the Summer of 2020


Hello to all you Cruisers out there!

Gibson Island
Here is the list of cruising opportunities for 2020.  These cruise dates are jointly hosted by the Cambridge Yacht Club, The Power Squadron, ESSA, and Fleet 10.  The list shows where the cruisers plan to be. If you can’t sail the entire cruise join the fleet for part of the trip. Call the fleet on Channel 72:” CHOPTANK CRUISERS! ” Some cruises this year will be long weekend trips: Thursday through Tuesday. All planned itineraries will be influenced by weather conditions. All skippers will need to be flexible.
Skippers are responsible for their own marina reservations.
As you will see, the first cruise, our shakedown cruise, is close to our home port of Cambridge. Save the dates, but remember all cruises are subject to weather conditions.  
May 23, 24, 25, Sat-Mon, Shakedown Cruise, We will start out in La Trappe Creek on the 23rd and then for those that want too, we will head down to Plain Dealing Creek, (Which is across from Oxford).
June 20, 21, Sat-Sun, Little Choptank, Madison Bay, possibly Fishing Creek.
June 20- 26, Sat-Fri, Fleet 10, Southern Bay & Potomac: Point Lookout Marina in Smith Creek on the Potomac River; Palmers Cove on the Yeocomico River; Tangier Island at Parks Marina; Onancock, Md.; Crisfield, Md. at Somers Cove Marina; Coan River, (Virginia); St. Mary's College; Return Hom.  If you would like information on this group please contact George Breig at gbreig@comcast.net
