Many of us use Sailflow and other wind services for racing and cruising. These services depend on NOAA stations for data. For the 2017 season, work at Sail Winds forced removal of the automated station. Good news, it will be returning to operation hopefully for next season.
Water Level Station 8571892 Cambridge, MD is presently installed at a temporary location due to construction/renovations being conducted on the pier the station is normally installed on. The temporary location is not able to support wind measurements.
The repairs/renovation of the pier is work being done by the owners
of the pier (NOAA does not own this structure). Once the repairs are complete,
it is our intention to return the station to it's original location, and to
support the full suite of sensors systems historically available for this
station. We do not know when those repairs will be completed, and cannot
provide a time frame for when the wind sensors will be restored to this
station. We are hopeful that the repairs will be completed, and the station
returned to full function, some time in the next year to 18 months.
I hope that this response has answered your questions.
