Stedman Smith Cup, Saturday, June 4, 2022

ESSA Racers,

Please plan to race the Stedman Smith Cup Race on Saturday, June 4.  This is always a fun race and I hope that you can join us. 

We will resume the tradition of docking at TAYC for lunch. They will have three good lunch options to choose from.  Unfortunately, crab cakes is not one of them due to the very high cost of crab - too bad. The chef at TAYC has promised to put crab cakes back on the menu if the price comes down. 

The NORSI for the Stedman Smith Cup has been posted on the ESSA Blog. Among other key race information, is the lunch menu.

So, line up your crew and importantly decide who will race your boat home to Cambridge when you hand over the helm after passing the Choptank Light.

Please let me know by Wednesday June 1 if you’ll be racing and what are your selections for lunch.

2021 Stedman Smith Results 

Choptank Fleet: New marker dropped at location "H"

Many thanks to Sue Jones for helping me to place a new flag marker at ESSA location "H".

The flag buoy is within a few feet of Clam Marker "C". 

The clam marker is impossible to spot visually since it is only six inches above water. 

The flag buoy can be seen easily from .25 NM and up to .30 NM.

It is imperative that all boats not go between the two markers to avoid entanglement.

Buoys B, G, H and Z have all been refreshed.

The finish line flags are now Red.
