Barging at the line. The rule

Dear Choptank Fleet,

There seems to exist a handful of skippers who make barging an acceptable practice on the starting line and/or who refuse to head up when being pushed by a leeward boat with overlap.

Knock it off.

While ESSA sailing is meant to be fun, we do need to do a much better job to abide by those sailing rules set forth to avoid a collision. Please take a minute to review the extremely simple and clear right of way situations below.

Unfortunately, in racing we aren’t all guaranteed a spot on the starting line.

See you all next week!
