Good morning Choptank fleet!
It looks as if we have an exciting evening of sailing on our hands tonight. I've requested that the committee boat stretch the spin fleet out a bit ("... can anyone see the G mark?!) - we'll see if the conditions permit. To make this happen we will have the course boards handy on the committee boat for course identification, because said course is not currently listed on the course menu. I will make announcements over the radio leading up to the race to try and keep all the racers informed. Please have someone monitoring the radio for that reason. Stay flexible.
Speaking of staying flexible.... I want to thank the skippers and their crew for their patience during this series. There were many challenges the fleet was faced with.... committee boat, volunteers, scoring, weak course management etc. My biggest challenge as fleet captain has been keeping our volunteer base up, and keeping them engaged so that we the sailors do not have to handle being committee boat. If you see Branden or his family, please thank them for allowing us to use their boat when Red Sky is not available. When you see Ron, Sally, Nancy, Tasha, George, Bernie or any of the other volunteers, please thank them. Buy them a drink.
We recognize certain flaws and weaknesses in the current course selection. I have completed a new draft of courses, and this will be instituted before series two. Keep an eye out for that.
Sean, Jay and Henner, we thank you for your support of ESSA and getting down here to race. You all are bringing the competition level way up. I love it.
Nothing Artificial, will you slow the hell down please?
Gabrielle, way to go! You guys are unstoppable this season! Branden did you turn the music off or something?
Tamarind and Touche…. aren't you getting tired of watching Reveille's stern?
KIDDING! Lots of great competition out there.
See you all tonight!
-Trevor
