RUM RUNNER RENDEZVOUS: Cambridge to the Choptank Light, August 22, 2020

Is it a race? Is it a cruise?  Both!

The Rum Runner Rendezvous is a unique event where non-racers and non-cruising sailboaters can do both on the same day. AKA, a nice boat ride with a happy ending!

The race begins at Green Buoy Number 25 and ends at the Choptank Light, seven and a half miles on the Choptank River. After finishing, the fleet will retire to an anchorage in LaCompte Bay (or other suitable anchorage.) At the raft-up, Awards will be given to the top three finishing boats. Bring you rlunch and cocktails.

This is a Persuit Race, the slower boats will get a head-start. Extra time will be given to non-racers and when a crew member is assigned to the helm.

Here is the NORSI. (subject to change due to weather and other stuff.)_

Start at G25 end at the Choptank Light Raft-up at LaCompte Bay

Rum Runner Rendezvous Notice of Race

August 22, 2020

The intention of this race is to encourage non-racing sailboat owners to use their sailboats in a racing venue.  We encourage but will not restrict partition of regular racing sailboat owners “those who have raced with in the past 12 months,” but, our enticing experience crew and captains to race on the “cruising vessels”.   We are encouraging racing sailboat to have crew as their helms person for the race.

 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

10 second per a mile extra PHRF point will be given to any racing vessel (racing vessel definition- a sailboat that has raced in the last 12 months) for having a crew member helming for the duration of race.
