Weather shakes-up the "Shakedown" Cruise

 What part of cold, dreary, wet, and windy tells you to stay home?

Our starter cruise has run into some forbidding weather. Don't expect to see any of your not-so-hearty friends in LaTarppe. You may find, Ismail or Shackleton; but, you will not find me there, 

If the weather breaks on Monday, some of us just might break our cabin fever for a quick day trip.

Next up!

Call the fleet on Channel 72: “CHOPTANK CRUISERS! ” Some cruises this year will be long weekend trips: Thursday through Tuesday. All planned itineraries will be influenced by weather conditions. All skippers will need to be flexible.

Skippers are responsible for their own marina reservations.

June 11,12,13,(14) Fri-Sat-Sun, Little Choptank, Solomons Holiday Inn. On this cruise the Tangier cruisers will join the Choptank cruisers at the Little Choptank or Solomons, Return on Sunday. Choptank Cruisers may want to stop at Tilghman Island or Oxford on the return leg.

The Pride of Baltimore Is Coming to Cambridge

 CAMBRIDGE — The National Park Service and Pride of Baltimore II, a reproduction War of 1812-era privateer schooner, are offering free two-hour day sails in Cambridge on Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and May 30.

People are invited Pride’s crew and a National Park Service ranger to learn about Maryland’s rich maritime history, the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail and the War of 1812 and privateers in the Chesapeake.

Capacity is limited to 32 passengers, so please register early and no later than Friday, May 28.

Bad News for ESSA Race Results Reporting

One of the reasons that I have been using a Google hosted blog site is the automatic emails sent to subscribers like you. It has been a great resource for us. I post a race results or a notice and it does the email work for me. Currently, 77 people subscribe to the site.  Subscribers can also turn on or off their subscriptions.  Best of all it is free.

OK, so what is the BAD NEWS? Google is dropping the email utility called FeedBurner. It is (was) the email subscription manager for Google blogsites.  RSS, if you know what that is, is still available.    

Needless to say; but, I will say it anyway, "THIS SUCKS!"

Sorry folks, no more emails for now unless I find another easy way to do it. 

What you will need to do is set the ESSA blogsite as one of your "favorites".  I usually post the results by 10:00 PM. so you can click on the link before you turn out the lights or the next morning over coffee (or Captain Crunch).

Upcoming changes to FeedBurner in July 2021

Starting in July, we are transitioning FeedBurner onto a more stable, modern infrastructure. This will keep the product up and running for all users, but it also means that we will be turning down most non-core feed management features, including email subscriptions, at that time.

What FeedBurner users can expect

For many users, no action is required. All existing feeds will continue to serve uninterrupted, and you can continue to create new accounts and burn new feeds. Core feed management functionality will continue to be supported, such as the ability to change the URL, source feed, title, and podcast metadata of your feed. Basic analytics on feed requests and the ability to create enclosure tags for MP3 files will also continue to be supported.

So what is changing? We are turning down most non-core feed management features that help you optimize and publicize your feed, e.g. email subscriptions, Browser Friendly, and Password Protector.

Chesapeake Maritime Heritage Festival, June 26-27, 2021

 

Chesapeake Maritime Heritage Festival June 26 + 27, 2021 10 AM - 6 PM

This new event celebrates the area’s maritime culture and history with an array of boats on display, maritime exhibits, and informative talks. Topics are expected to include the Choptank River Lighthouse, the Thomas Point Lighthouse, the Skipjack Nathan of Dorchester, and Turkey Point Light Station. Live music can be enjoyed Saturday from 3 to 5pm with Fog After Midnight featuring Kevin Diaz. The event happens from 10am to 6pm on  Saturday, June 26 and Sunday, June 27 at Ruark Boatworks in Cambridge, Maryland. The Boatworks is part of the Richardson Maritime Museum.
