Please note: Series 2 for the NON-SPIN fleet did not qualify as a Series since only three races were completed. However, The race results will be included in the Overall Season Competition for 2022.

"To qualify for the Overall Season Award a boat must race in 50% of the races sailed plus one. Overall Season Awards for each Fleet will be based on all races sailed plus points earned as the Race Committee boat, minus three discards over the entire season."

Small Boat Days, August 28, 2022

 Hi all,

 The next small boat day is scheduled for Sunday, August 28 at 1 pm at Tyaskin Park. We have the pavilion and will be supplying hamburgers, hotdogs, plates, napkins and utensils, condiments etc.  Please bring dishes to share and BYOB - bring your own beverages, blankets, boats and buddies:)

Choptank Fleet NOR & SI Update

Sections 2.3 and 2.4 have been updated to conform with US Sailing Rules.  These changes will not affect any race results to date.

2.3 Safety Equipment - For all classes, the “Nearshore” category of the US Sailing Safety Equipment Requirements (available at

https://cdn.ussailing.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Monohull-SER-2022.0-Nearshore.pdf) will apply.

Previously, the PHRF of the Chesapeake specified racing safety requirements. They have discontinued that service.

2.4 Penalty Turns - Rule 44.1 (taking a penalty) is modified to allow a boat to take a one turn penalty versus a two-turn penalty when she has broken one or more rules of Part 2.  A penalty for breaking a rule of RRS Part 2 will be one complete one turn penalty. Specifically, after getting well clear of other boats and as soon after the incident as possible, a boat will make one turn in the same direction consisting of one tack and one gybe. The penalty turn will be completed within the current course leg.

The term "360" (degrees) has been removed as one jibe and tack can be completed in less than 360 degrees. E.g., from a beam reach she can fall-off into a jibe and then tack back to close-hauled in the original direction: almost 360.

Tanzer 22 for Sale O'Day Widgeon for Sale

Sailboat-Tanzer 22' Fin Keel and trailer. Hull and Hatches are in very good shape. Main and 155% Genoa by North Sails, in good shape. Standing and running rigging is new. The boat also comes with a second set of older sails, a working jib in good order and a whisker pole. Boat is fast and has done very well in "one design" club racing. I have a Mercury 4 hp, 2 stroke, long shaft outboard motor. O'day Widgeon LOA 12'4" Beam 5' Draft: Centerboard up 5", down 3'6". Can be easily sailed single handed or used to teach young sailors. Boat comes complete with all sails and trailer. I have titles for both boat and trailer. Package also comes with a new main sail kit from Sailrite (still in box). Only reasonable offers will be responded to.

Choptank River No-Wake

 

⛵No Wake Zone Reminder🚤 July 23-34, 2022 The Coast Guard has asked us to send a reminder that during the Thunder on the Choptank Powerboat Races this weekend there will be a "no wake zone" in effect from the U.S. Route 50 Bridge to the Hambrooks Bar Light. The "no wake zone" will be in effect from 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The powerboat races will take place in Hambrooks Bay, and you can view them from Gerry Boyle Park at Great Marsh or from your boat on the river.. essasailing38@gmail.com
