Cruising the Chesapeake- Itineraries for 2023

Hello to all you Cruisers out there!  

Here is the list of cruising opportunities for 2023.  These cruise dates are jointly hosted by the Cambridge Yacht Club, The Power Squadron, ESSA, and Fleet 10.  The list shows where the cruisers plan to be. If you can’t sail the entire cruise join the fleet for part of the trip. Call the fleet on Channel 72: “CHOPTANK CRUISERS! ” Some cruises this year will be long weekend trips: Thursday through Tuesday. All planned itineraries will be influenced by weather conditions. All skippers will need to be flexible.

Skippers are responsible for their own marina reservations.

June 10,11,12 Sat-Sun-Mon, La Trappe Shakedown Cruise & Fun Race, Starting at Green 25, we will have a “keep your own time” staggered start race, to buoy Green 19,  Start whenever you feel like and keep your own time.  No trophy, just a few cheap prizes.  Yes, your time will be handicapped.

After passing G19, head to La Trappe Creek to raft up and then for those that want to, we will head down to Plain Dealing Creek on Sunday, (Which is across from Oxford).  On Monday Morning we return to home port.

June 17- 24, Sat-Fri, Fleet 10 Annual Cruise  2023

This is a full week cruise which asks the question, “Are you serious about cruising?” Some may join late or leave early. This year the fleet will be sailing the Choptank. The Annual Cruise usually attracts 12-16 sailboats. More details will be posted as the event approaches. This fleet includes 22 ft to 40 ft boats.

·         Saturday, Bay Bridge Marina, Group Picnic

·         Sunday, Waterhole Cove off Harris Creek.

·         Monday, Oxford, Safe Harbor Marina

·         Tuesday, Hudson Creek in the Little Choptank

·         Wednesday, Cambridge to see ESSA racing and CYC cook-out

·         Thursday, San Domingo Creek, Dingy to St, Michaels

·         Friday,  Knapp’s Narrows Marina

·         Saturday, Return to your home port.

July 15, 16, 17, Sat-Sun-Monday, First anchorage, Water hole Cove which is just north of Knapp’s Narrows. We will dingy over to the dingy dock and take the short walk over to Lowe’s wharf for a drink and bite to eat. On Sunday, we take a slip at Knapp’s Narrows and jump in the pool. On Monday, we sail the Choptank back to Cambridge.

August 24,25,26,27,28, Thur-Mon, Selby Bay, Annapolis -2 nights, AYC or moorings, Knapp’s Narrows Marina, Cambridge

Sept. 1,2,3,4, Fri- Tues, South River, Swan Creek, Rock Hall, Tilghman, (Oxford), Cambridge

September 22-25, Fri- Mon, Broad Creek, Boby Owl Cove; San Domingo Creek; Oxford; Cambridge
