After some discussion, the Commodore and Choptank Fleet Captain have decided to declare Series 1, Race 2, of Wednesday, May 17, 2017 as valid.

Situation: Non-Spin Course: I-A-B-H-A Distance = 3.47 NM
Marker B was not in place. As the boats approached the area, it was reported by the lead boat that mark "B" could not be found. Before the start, the committee boat made no announcement to that effect as it was assumed that the new mark was in place.
According to witnesses, the Non-Spin Fleet used the R"24" buoy to mark the turn and sailed on to 'H". Although the distances were affected, the order of finish appears unaffected.
Publishing the results has been delayed for this reason.
Corrective Action:
Until the regular mark is in place, a temporary mark will be placed at the location of the Original Red Nun "24" as indicated on the Choptank NOR & SI and the ESSA race chart. The committee boat will be asked to confirm it's presence before the race since it is the only non-USCG navigation aid that ESSA uses.
