Stedman Smith Cup Results, May 19, 2018

A unique day: three boats made it to Oxford before 11:30  under heavy skies. A brief shower at the start was an omen for the day.  

After a fine crab cake lunch, the race re-started at Red Buoy 2. As the fleet approached the Choptank Light, a quick rumble of thunder announced a superlative downpour.  No weather gear resisted the deluge. With visibility down to 100 yards,, it was time to rely on GPS graphics and a compass.

When the curtain of gray lifted, the J-29's were approaching 19A in a close match.  Jitterbug bailed out resorting to motoring in the downpour.  The results below tell the rest of the story. 

Congratulations to Trevor Carouge and his valiant crew on their success,  All sailed a great race.
