The intention of this race is
encourage non racer sail boat owners to use their sailboats in a racing
venue. We encourage but will not
restrict partition to boat owners who have raced with in the past 12 months but
our enticing them to crew on the “cruising vessels”

Community Sailing
1. Rules.
1.1 This regatta will be governed by
the rules as defined by The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 These Sailing Instructions,
including amendments, supersede and will take precedence in the
case of conflict with any other
rules, Notice of Race or Entry form.
2. Entries.
2.1 The race is open to any boat with
a PHRF rating of less than 285.
2.2 Eligible boats may enter by
completing an entry form and paying the required fee by the September 5 ,2021 An entry is not valid until the entry form is
completed. Photo of filled out entry is
acceptable and be text to 410.562.2721.
2.3 Boats wishing to enter without a
current PHRF Certificate will be assigned a rating at the discretion of the
Race Committee (RC).
3. Changes in Sailing
Instructions
3.1 On-the-water changes to the
sailing instructions will be announced by the RC on Channel 72.
4. Schedule of Races
4.1 Schedule of racing is as follows:

4.2 Starting times for each boat will
be available on the by text or email 10:00 am Sunday, September 5, 2021
5. Racing Area
Racing area is in the area in front
of CYC from GC 25 to the GC 19
6. Course.
(Start) GC 25 (port) – GC 23(port) –
G21(starboard) – G19(starboard) -Finish. The course is approximately 3.50 NM. The
following are considered passing
marks and passed to the channel side at all times: GC
19A, RN2 and RN24.

7. Marks Marks shall be
Government marks.
8. Check In
Each boat shall sail by the RC signal
boat, hail her sail number and be acknowledged by the RC.
9. Start
9.1 This will be a pursuit race with
a reverse PHRF starting order. The boat with the slowest rating
will start first and the fastest will
start last.
9.2 The starting line will be between
a staff displaying an orange flag on the signal boat at the
(starboard end) and GC 25 (port end).
9.3 The Race Committee will signal
the starting sequence as follows (this changes RRS 26).
1100 Warning signal
1101 Preparatory signal for the first
boat 1 sound
1104 1 sound
1105 Starting signal with 1 sound
9.4 For the purposes of definition of
“racing” each boat’s preparatory period shall be 4 minutes
prior to their scheduled start. After
the first boat has started, there will be no visual signal or
sound for any subsequent preparatory
signal.
9.5 The start times for all boats
will be based on their PHRF handicap and will be an interval from
the warning signal. The RC will use
civilian GPS time synchronization. The RC will attempt to
broadcast each starting time on VHF
channel 72. Failure to broadcast a start time will not be
grounds for redress.
9.6 The start time for each boat will
be available September 5,2021 (after 0900 and before 1000) by text.
9.7 Boats shall avoid the starting
area until 4 minutes prior to their scheduled start time in order to
allow boats with their preparatory
period to start.
9.8 If any part of a boat’s hull,
crew or equipment is on the course side of the starting line at her
starting signal and she identified,
the RC will attempt to broadcast her sail number on VHF 72.
Failure to make a
broadcast or to time it accurately
will not be grounds for redress.
9.9 Boats that are OCS will receive a
scoring penalty of 10 minutes plus the amount of time early.
9.10 In the event of a postponement
is signaled on the water, the RC will announce the revised start
times on VHF channel 72 will
announced over the radio.
9.11 Recalls – After the starting
signal the RC may announce the sail number of the recalled boat(s)
on VHF Channel 72. Failure of a boat
to hear the recall broadcast, a boat’s position in the
sequence of broadcast numbers, and
failure of the RC to broadcast any numbers shall not be
grounds for granting redress (this
changes RRS 62.1(a)).
10. Time Limit
10.1 Boats racing 45 minutes after
the first boat in their class finishes, and not thereafter retiring,
being disqualified, or given redress
will be scored Time Limit Expired (TLE) and should
proceed to the starting area if
another race is scheduled.
10.2 The score (prior to application
of other penalties) of boats scored TLE will be points equal to
the number of boats finishing within
the time limit plus one point. This changes RRS A4.2, A5,
and A11.
11. The Finish
11.1 Unless the course is shortened,
the finishing line will be between a staff displaying a blue “On
Station” flag on an RC vessel leaving
the GC 19 to (starboard) If necessary, the
course will be shortened at a rounding
mark in accordance with RRS 32 and SI Figure 1.
12. Protest and Requests for
Redress
12.1. Will be held at Choptank Light
at midnight NewYears Eve December 31,2020.
13. Scoring
Boats will be scored using in the
order of finish.
14. Safety
A boat that retires from a race or
leaves the racing area prior to the end of racing shall notify
the RC as soon as practicable. The RC
can be notified by contacting any RC boat verbally or
by VHF Channel 72.
15. Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to
first three finishers. Trophies will be available at the raft up on La Trappe
Creek . Location for raft up will be in
the vicinity of Re Rock the Chop gathering.
